The "Marterl" (wayside shrines) are typical of the region and are an integral part of the landscape. Those who wish can take time for a short prayer, a quiet moment of reflection, or meditation. These places are an invitation to people with spiritual sensibilities.

According to legend, the lord of the castle asked the devil for his help to build the Bohemian Wall within seven days. When the devil wanted to drag the client to hell after the construction had been completed on time as agreed, the client refused and clung to the gate so tightly that his fingers left marks in the stone. Until a few years ago, there were actually five depressions that, given their size and position relative to each other, could have been made by fingers. However, these "fingerprints" were destroyed by vehicles that hit the gate and damaged it. Source: Wikipedia

Castle visits are possible with a guide, but only on weekends. Getting there is the easiest when approaching the Raabs an der Thaya from the south. Road uphills from the town centre is very steep, so prepare for pushing the bike.

The Bohemian Wall is a fortification north of the Kollmitz castle ruins. In order to compensate for this location disadvantage after the introduction of heavy firearms, a wall was built around 1450 at a distance of 300 to 400 meters, which cut off the meander of the Thaya on which the castle was built. The Bohemian Wall is over 100 meters long and about 5 meters high. On the side facing the castle there was a battlement, the defenders found protection behind rectangular battlements.

Anneliese Bruckner has been collecting dolls, toys and children's books for over 45 years. During this time, a real treasure has been accumulated. In 2018, Mrs. Bruckner opened her doll museum, which is located in her parents' house in Raabs an der Thaya. Visitors can expect a journey through time from the Biedermeier period to the 1960s. Over 3,000 exhibits, each with its own story, can be admired. The oldest pieces include a celluloid Schildkröt doll from the Biedermeier period (around 1820) and a velvet cat from the early days of the Steiff collection. On a tour of the museum, guests will discover, among other things, Punch and Judy figures, doll carriages, doll kitchens, Barbie dolls and an original school desk with a slate board. In addition, an old classroom was set up for viewing in 2019. Please call Anneliese Bruckner in advance on 0664/6598573. Since 2019, you can also visit an old school classroom and since August 2020, you can also visit the traditional costume doll exhibition in the Meierhof. The Raabs Borderland Museum was founded in 1984 by the town of Raabs under the then City Councillor for Culture Othmar Knapp. The museum building was built by the Raabs Raiffeisenkasse. Under the motto "6,000 years of farming on the Thaya", the Neolithic stone axes found in the town area, medieval archaeological finds, remaining inventory items from Raabs Castle and various agricultural and forestry equipment are on display. In 1998, the museum was redesigned. In view of the sharp increase in archaeological finds in the area, a room was dedicated to "history from the ground". It was set up by Dr. Kurt Bors, who has been working in this area since 1987 on archaeological surveys and the localization of lost medieval sites. The second exhibition theme chosen for the anniversary in 2000 was "900 years of Raabs Castle and Market" and is dedicated to the historical development of the market up until it was declared a town in 1926. Opening hours: Mon-Thurs: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Fri: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and by telephone arrangement
