The area on the Lafnitz was founded in the Middle Neolithic, in the 5th millennium BC. Settled. The prehistoric settlement horizon is covered by thick alluvial layers, so that so far only a few finds have been made. In 1992, pottery shards from the late Lengyel culture (approx. 4000 BC) were recovered below the base of a Roman burial mound in the Oberlafnitzwiesen. Finds from the Bronze Age and Iron Age have been made in Wolfau. The Ringkogel near Hartberg was even fortified in the Iron Age. "Here you go, get rid of the cross net okemman. Take a look outside!" Was the wish of grandfather Wurzer from Oberrohr. His daughter insisted that the wooden cross that existed at the time should be replaced with the wayside shrine that was in place today as a thank you for the men who had returned home from the war, which the family was happy to tackle in 1952. A good bricklayer at that time was the plastering father, who was entrusted with this task. The water required for the work was carted to the construction site using a horse-drawn slurry tank.
