Lainzer Tiergarten near Laab - challenging but beautiful

In 1711, Albert Anton von Schmerling acquired the estate. The new owner was the Land Comptur of the Teutonic Order. The parish was thus passed to the Teutonic Order, which became the patron of the church. This church was located about 15 minutes outside of town on the so-called Kirchberg. In order to improve this impractical location, the castle chapel and several adjoining rooms were converted into a parish church and parts of the castle were adapted as a pastor's apartment. The parish church has therefore been in its current location since 1789.

Laab im Walde is a municipality in Lower Austria with 1,094 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2023). Laab lies in a side valley of the Liesingbachtal on the Laaber Bach. Laab is known for its rehabilitation center, which is located at an altitude of 316m in the middle of the Vienna Woods. Laab was also a favorite hunting area for the Babenbergs and the Habsburgs.
