Wartenstein Castle sits majestically overlooking the Schwarza Valley. This historic complex has shaped the landscape on the edge of the Rax region for centuries. From here, breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys unfold.

The view of the Rax reveals the striking high plateau of the Raxalpe with its steep rock faces. From the heights around Schottwien, the massif appears particularly impressive. An alpine panorama that enhances every tour in the Semmering region.

You think you're almost at the top and you might be tempted to eat something, but there are still a few tough climbs to come.

In good weather, the small, steep climb is worth it - the lookout tower and the view into the valley.

It was built after the end of the plague in 1713/14. Instead of the usual 14 Stations of the Cross, there are chapels with realistic, almost life-size depictions of the mysteries of the Sorrowful Rosary. These include the "Vacationers' Chapel" (Jesus bids farewell to his mother) at the beginning, as well as the Sepulchre Chapel at the end of the Calvary service. Processions take place during Holy Week.

The Kernstockwarte near Kirchberg am Wechsel is located at an altitude of 852 meters on the Wolfenkogel. From here, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Wechsel region. The Kernstockwarte is easily accessible directly from the center of Kirchberg via hiking trails and forest roads.
