Beautiful rest area near Klingenbach

The monastery complex, founded in 1475 by Ulrich I for the Pauline Order, an order still widely represented in Europe today, was marked by constant disputes over ownership throughout its eventful history. The situation only calmed down after an agreement with the Esterházy family in 1667. Between 1743 and 1762, the present appearance was created, taking into account the medieval ruins and reduced structure. In 1782, the monastery was dissolved as part of the Josephine monastic reform. Uninhabited since 1836, the monastery subsequently underwent only makeshift repairs; plans to reestablish an order ultimately failed due to adverse circumstances. A general renovation was not carried out until 1925, during which a Lourdes grotto was built in the former refectory. Between 1982 and 1986, the very ruined monastery underwent another complete restoration.

From here you have a beautiful view over the Wulka valley, there is also a telescope with which you can see as far as Lake Neusiedl if the visibility is good 👍

Next to this building is a great playground

Barren monastery, also known as the Pauline monastery, was donated to the Pauline Order in 1475. It was later inhabited by hermit monks. The large tree in front of the monastery is a winter linden and was planted by a hermit monk around 1762 - in 1987 it was declared a natural monument.

The "Black Cross" was erected in 1898 by Mathilde and Conrad Patzenhofer (owners of Draßburg Castle) in memory of the murder of Empress Elisabeth.
