At this point, the hiker encounters another small sacred monument. A fieldstone enclosure combined with wooden beams creates a small "sacred area." The wooden crucifix—a cross with the body of the crucified Christ—is topped with a protective gabled roof and a diamond-shaped back wall. It also bears the frequently seen INRI inscription above Christ's head, with another at his feet.

Filial Church of John the Baptist on the Flattnitz: A quiet place of contemplation in the middle of the Carinthian mountains. The small church impresses with its simple beauty and invites you to a moment of peace and reflection. There is a beautiful playground right next door.

You can take the forest spirits with you on any hike; some even have little signs with sayings on them to help break the spell 🙃👊👍. It's a cute idea, especially with kids.
