The church patrons are St. Aegidius and St. Magdalena. to st Churches in wooded and swampy areas were often consecrated in honor of Aegidius. The saint, usually depicted with a hind, is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers and is considered the patron saint of shepherds and hunters. Excavations inside the church brought to light the foundations of two previous churches. The late Gothic church dates from the early 16th century and was fitted with a baroque sacristy around 1750. During the excavations, three baroque priests' graves were uncovered and historical coins and the remains of a Romanesque curtain painting were found. The first church was a late Romanesque building from the 13th century with an apse. The second church (2nd half of the 14th century) was larger; in the front part it was somewhat narrower and shorter than the current building. Today's late Gothic church dates from the early 16th century (reconsecrated in 1506). The current west tower was built in 1686 (date at the north entrance and on the top floor of the tower), in 1749 Abraham Millauer built the baroque sacristy. In 1886/87 the tower received a pointed helmet in neo-Gothic forms. The most recent church renovation was carried out in 2010-2012. The church also received a floor made of Adneter marble.
