Great view of the Rhine and the castle. I walked the Gutenfelssteig trail from Kaub train station to this spot; it's a short but steep climb. The Rheinsteig trail joins it nearby.

In 1339, the Counts Palatine Rudolf, Rupert the Elder, and Rupert the Younger established a perpetual truce for "Kube, our castle, and the town of Kube and Pfallenzgrafenstein," the name under which the Palatinate first appears here.
