The Pfaffental valley is one of the quieter corners of the Lauter valley and feels almost like a small, hidden world unto itself. A narrow path leads through the wooded valley, accompanied by damp meadows, small springs, and the typical limestone slopes of the Swabian Alb. It is precisely here that one can see how pristine many of the Lauter's side valleys have remained. Away from the main paths, it is often surprisingly peaceful – ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy the landscape without the crowds. With a bit of luck, you might even spot deer or birds of prey using the tranquil forest edges and open meadows. A beautiful stretch to simply slow down for a few minutes and let the special atmosphere of this small Alb valley wash over you.

The premium hiking trail "hochgesprudelt" not only leads over the juniper heath but also through great forest areas.

The tower is practically always open. Just to the left of the entrance is a box where you can pay one euro per person for the climb. Just seeing the ingenious wooden structure is worth the euro. At a height of 32 meters, you can slide up the wooden enclosure on all four sides to enjoy the magnificent view. A metal plate attached to the ledge helps you orient yourself as to what is where. Please close all hatches when leaving.

Shortly after the car park down at the juniper heath, you have to pay particular attention to the signage due to the many paths if you want to follow the premium hiking trail "Hochgesprudelt" properly.
