The history of Tiefendorf is closely linked to the surrounding villages and the town of Hohenlimburg, to which it belongs today. As a rural settlement, it has never undergone urban development, but has been shaped over the centuries by the respective ruling structures in the region. Politically, Tiefendorf was part of the County of Limburg for many centuries. This county became part of Jülich and Berg in 1521.

It is also a mystery to me why this highlight occurs so often here, but it is also a fantastic building

The view of Wetter (Ruhr) and the Kaisbergaue offers a picturesque combination of historic city scenery and protected nature.

The avenue unfolds its special charm especially in spring and autumn – perfect for a stroll with a view of the castle and the surrounding nature.

A must-see. There's also a natural history museum and a café (08/2025) 😜

Simply a great building

The Hohensyburg Castle ruins (Dortmund), with their Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial, are absolutely worth a visit, and offer a magnificent view of the Ruhr Valley and the beginning of the Sauerland region! The Dortmund Casino is also located there, with a rather interesting building! Below Hohensyburg, there's a great cycling and hiking trail, always along the Ruhr! For multi-day trips, you can easily stay overnight at the Hohensyburg campsite, even for just one night, with a tent, or in a camping barrel (2-4 people), or a trailer (including a kitchen, dishes, private toilet, and seating, both inside and out, for 2 people!)!
