The statue is still missing today, August 25th. I asked around, but no one knew where it was. What a shame!

The path up to this lookout is almost as beautiful as the view itself. At the top, you'll find not only the view of Invercauld House, but also an information board.

Loch Gamhna is a beautiful body of water lilies. The Thieves' Road north of Loch Gamhna was used centuries ago by cattle thieves as an access route to Strathspey. Hoping that the thieves would spare the herds, locals tied a few cows to a tree by Loch Gamhna, thus giving it its name.

A good path all the way round

The waterfall isn't far from the Grey Mare's Tail Waterfall parking lot, and the trail is manageable. However, the climb to the summit isn't "easy." It requires good fitness and absolute surefootedness. The trail is full of scree and can only be negotiated with short scrambles here and there. I'm 46 and generally fit. However, after the descent, I can definitely feel my back and knees hurting. Personally, I would classify the circular trail as "moderately difficult."

The lower falls are a short 5-10 minute walk from the car park. The small bridge crosses the stream above a small fall, and provides a good view to more falls. There is a viewpoint and a good path further up the hill to the upper falls.

The most picturesque section of the trail along the falls. The bridge can be crossed to access the better path up to the upper falls viewpoint. The bridge is also right next to the viewing point for the lower falls. Beneath the bridge water cascades further down the stream.

The views are well worth the wee hike.

The path up from the lower bridge is good but a little steep in parts. It is on the gorge edge in parts. Care needed.

Lots of steps on one side of the stream but quite accessible on the other side

Perfect spot to rest a little and get a more than memorable photo :)
