A wonderfully idyllic lake nestled in the forest, it invites you to linger and take a break at the lakeside hut. However, especially in summer, you shouldn't let your dog into the water, as it will smell of Puhl for three days afterward. The lake is very rich in sediment.

The "highly outstanding church of St. Amandus, which is popularly known as the 'Cathedral in Violental', was first mentioned in the Lorsch Codex 772 with a donation of a vineyard." The current church, built in 1893, is the third church in Ottersheim. "The baptismal font was built over 500 years ago [around 1500] in Worms and shows a scene of the murder of Bishop Becket of Canterbury/England (1170)."
