クレイ郡周辺の簡単なハイキングとウォーキング

The hike up isn't the most exciting as is just an old gravel road. However, your efforts will be richly rewarded with panoramic views once you reach the summit.

The Murphy Riverwalk follows the paths of the Hiwassee and Valley Rivers. It is recognized as a walking and paddle path as the river are part of a canoe trail. Along the walk you'll find a number of information posts informing you about the local history, flora, fauna, and legends.

This is one of the loops in Jackrabbit area that goes closer to the lake, a mostly flat trail to enjoy a walk between trees and Lake Chatuge. There are many intersectiosn between the trails, so you can choose your own path and make your hike as long or as short as you like.

Albert Mountain has its summit at 5200 ft, with a historic firetower on top that offers outstanding 360-degrees views of the surrounds. From there you have sweeping views of the Blue Ridge range and Little Tenesse valley. The Appalachian Trail goes along its summit, but it is also possible to take other trails to get there. The area is susceptible to thunderstorms, so be sure to check the weather before going.

A small peak of 2238 ft in Lake Chatuge area, Jackrabbit Mountain is accessed by an easy and short path that goes between trees with lake views. From the top itself there is not much views because of the trees, but when walking more close to the lake you can see the crystal clear blue water.
