Maudslay State Park features 19th-century gardens, rolling meadows, towering pines, and one of the largest naturally occurring stands of mountain laurel in the state. It’s an ideal spot for walking, biking, or picnicking - the trails, however, within the park are mostly for hiking. The park also features educational programs during the summer months. It is open from sunrise to sunset, with daily year-round.

This lookout near the Steel Tower is a short climb from the trail and offers panoramic views over the woods, Boston, and the ocean. The structure is basic but sturdy—worth a quick stop if you want a different perspective of the area.

There’s a small island in Walden Pond that you can see from this point on the trail. The views of the lake are especially beautiful during autumn, and sunset is also a great time to visit.

Salem Woods is a natural area with trails and some great natural features like the forest river visible here.

Lynn Beach is quite expansive and encircles much of Nahant Bay leading out to the Atlantic. A paved trail runs along the length of the beach, and you can spend a lot of time riding right next to the water.
