A picturesque wooden bridge crosses Corbin Creek. The small waterfall, muddy rocks, and surrounding forest create a magical scene. Take a moment to appreciate the environment and realize the special place around you.

On the first look it seems to be a unspectacular waterfall - but as the water runs down a rockslide for about 100 ft or so and ends in a shallow pool with a bank of sand it makes for a better experience than some of the larger waterfalls nearby. I highly recommend to make it an out and back from Mac’s Gap Trail instead of approaching it from Deep Gap Trail or Wilderness Falls Trail because these two are basically not blazed, very muddy, heavily overgrown, have a lot of spur/side trails and without App/GPS do have segments that are hard to navigate because of this. Furthermore you would need to cross the creek through knee deep water.

One of the best places to enjoy the panoramic views of the Panthertown Valley is the Salt Rock Overlook. This scenic spot is located at the end of a short spur trail that branches off from the main Panthertown Valley Trail. From here, you can see the granite domes, the mountain bogs, and the winding streams that make this area so unique and diverse. You can also spot some of the waterfalls that are accessible by other trails in the valley, such as Wilderness Falls and Frolictown Falls. The Salt Rock Overlook is a great place to relax, have a picnic, or watch the sunset over the mountains.

Whitewater Falls is 411 ft high, being the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. The upper platform is the best place to spot amazing views of the waterfall. Due to the humidity that comes from the falls the surrounding vegetation is very diverse, with many wildflowers, salamanders, and berries, depending on the season. The parking lot can be quite busy depending on the day and season, and there is a parking fee of $3 that can only be paid in cash.

Lower Whitewater Falls is part of a seris of the highest falls in eastern North America, composing a 200 ft drop of a beautiful waterfall in amongst forest. Due to its height and to avoid accidents, there is no trail to the falls, but the platform offers stunning views.

Soco Falls is a prized possession of Maggie Valley. The twin waterfalls create a photo-worthy destination with a viewing platform just short of the falls. The trail down to them can be dicey when wet, so take your time and use the ropes provided if you need to. The falls are a popular spot for those traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is a turn at Soco Gap at Milepost 455.7, and a parking lot about 1.5 miles to the south serves as the trailhead for the short trail to the falls.

There is a parking fee of $3 that can only be paid in cash as far as I have seen. During the week in March it was very empty. The viewing platform seems to be the only good spot to get a view on the waterfall.

Western Carolina University's multi-use trail system consists of 6.8 miles of narrow, single-track trails suitable for hikers and mountain bikers. The trail is moderately difficult, with some steep hillsides.
