Lochmaben Castle is a ruined 14th-century castle located on the shore of Castle Loch in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Access to the castle's ruins, is currently restricted for safety reasons due to unstable masonry.

Excellent cafe and lovely people whom run it. My wife and I are vegan and we were surprised by a delicious vegan cake.

Great cycling themed cafe with lots of interesting memorabilia on the walls. Good coffee and food too, a great option for a stop.

The small lake is not directly accessible, but is beautifully situated. We were able to observe a pair of swans here.

The small facility is beautifully situated on a steep cliff. The lighthouse has been automated but the fog horn is apparently no longer in operation.

A beautiful coastal landscape, bizarre rock formations and numerous seabirds await you here. The coastal path is highly recommended.

Lovely riverside path popular with dog walkers

From the chain bridge you can walk up to the sandstone road bridge and back via the other side of the river.

Mabie Forest has 5 waymarked walking/running trails from the car park start area. The trails are as follows... Orchard Trail: 0.5 miles, white markers. Chinney Field trail: 1.25 miles, red markers. Dalshinnie Glen trail: 2.5 miles, purple markers. Nith View trail: 4.5 miles, yellow markers. Lochaber Trail: 5 miles, dark red markers.

Absolutely stunning coastline. Make sure you take a picnic, so many nice spots for a rest and to watch the world pass by.

Brilliant little Loch - a little hard to get close to the water.

A lovely, serene stretch along the banks of River Tweed. By a bit of a contrast to the southern bank on the other side of the river, this one is more wooded and provides some more visual variety. It is easy to visit the town of Gattonside, which is just to the north of you from here.

A lovely and peaceful walk away from the frequently busy streets of Melrose and Tweedbank. The lazily and slowly flowing River Tweed will bring you peace that you need!
