Fuchsschroffen" 岩とその周辺にはかつて多くのキツネが住んでおり、盗んだ鶏をここに隠していました。 Fuchsschroffenは花崗岩でできており、これは非常に硬くしっかりした岩石で、道路建設や石材として多用途に使用できます。 花崗岩は非常に粗い節理網を持っており、これが浸食によって大きな角礫岩に分解されます。 花崗岩の年代は約3億1500万年前です。

The Brandbach stream plunges down a narrow gorge here, known as the Gaishölle (Goat's Hell). Over the centuries, the steep gradient of the water has eroded the enormous boulders and glacial erratics lying on the valley floor, creating a wild and romantic wooded gorge with numerous waterfalls. In earlier times, it was impossible to walk through the valley normally. To traverse the gorge, one had to "geißen," meaning to move along by climbing like a goat. "Hölle" (Hell) is an old-fashioned name for a narrow, wild area with many rocks and stones. In 1880, a hiking trail was first established through the wild and romantic Gaishölle. The maintenance and upkeep of this trail led to the founding of a special beautification society in 1882, the present-day "Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Sasbachwalden" (Sasbachwalden Local History and Tourism Association). The term "Geiß" is an old name for a narrow, wild area with many rocks and stones.
