Many fishermen along this pond, the starting point of the Drouette. It's a must-see in the area :-)

It's hard to believe that you are so close to Paris when you pass through the pretty village of Gometz-le-Châtel. The town stands out in particular for its small ponds typical of Essonne. If you're running through it, slow down to have a look. You may spot the different species of amphibians, birds and mammals that inhabit the grounds.

The district designed by the architect Ricardo Bofill in 1981, combines around an artificial lake two large boulevards and a set of mixed housing, mixing suburban housing for home ownership and public housing. Nicknamed the "Versailles of the people", they combine a "Viaduct" imitating the great bridges of Avignon, the Château de Chenonceau or the Roman aqueduct of Segovia.

I drove several times by car near this magical place without seeing it but, thanks to a mountain bike ride, I discovered it! great place to unwind!

Another excellent local surprise, this pond (artificial, but dating from Vauban) was part of the system of channels and aqueduct which directed the waters from the Saclay plateau to the fountains of Versailles...
