The Cascata della Froda waterfall, in Castelveccana, is a cascade of water about 100 meters high originating from Mount Cuvignone. It can be reached by a walk through the woods starting from the hamlet of Nasca. This pleasant trail, also suitable for families, passes streams, ancient trout ponds, and old mills.

Nice place for walking and to take the ferry.

The climb to the cross is challenging, with many rocks and quite steep. Hiking boots are recommended, not sneakers. The view of Lake Maggiore is breathtaking, however, with clear views of Verbania and the Borromean Islands. This is the most panoramic point; the rest of the trail is through the trees, with a few more glimpses of the lake.

When I was there in June 2025, I couldn't visit the interior because the entrance door was locked.

Beautiful view from the top, but both trails are in poor condition, especially the trail coming from the south, which is closed. There are many fallen trees and the area is full of nettles. Not passable.

You can park your car at the end of the trail. There's room for 4-5 cars.

A great hiking trail along the ridge of Pizzo di Laveno. It's heavily wooded, making it perfect for hot summer days. But it still offers fantastic views of Lake Maggiore and the other lakes. Important note: Although Komoot doesn't show any elevation change in the elevation profile, it's a constant up and down. It's often very steep and rocky. Add about 100-150 meters of elevation gain to your hike if you include this section (ours was an additional 150 meters at the end, according to GPS measurements).
