The Ludens Ruh rest area commemorates the master baker Ludwig Schneider (1841-1913), nicknamed Lude. He was a connoisseur of the heath and spent much time there. The old shelter was completely renovated years ago and now looks almost stylish. A well-stocked guestbook is still available; the container can be turned, making it easy to access the book and pens.

The Schrammsteine are an elongated, heavily jagged rock formation in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, located east of Bad Schandau in Saxon Switzerland and within the Ostrau district. They are bordered to the north by the Kirnitzsch Valley and the Hohe Liebe, to the south by the Elbe Valley, and to the east by the Affensteine. The climb was more than worth it for the view.

Very idyllic little beautiful path

The Schrammsteine are an approximately 12 km² long, unspoiled, heavily jagged rock formation east of Bad Schandau. They are bordered by the Kirnitzsch Valley to the north, the Elbe Valley to the south, and the two Winterberg mountains to the west. They are divided into the Vordere Schrammsteine, which extend from the Falkenstein to the Breite Kluft, and the Hintere Schrammsteine, which are found between the Affenstein and the Winterberg mountains.

A wonderful and idyllic path, with beautiful little bridges. I can definitely recommend it. And if everyone pays attention to others, hiking and cycling will also work.

As part of Chemnitz's 2025 European Capital of Culture, this beautiful sculpture by the artist Tony Cragg was installed in Bad Schlema. It is part of the Purple Path art project, which encompasses the entire region surrounding Chemnitz.
