丘の上の美しい砂利道

素晴らしい道、アスファルトは高原の頂上で終わります

この砂利道は歩くことはできましたが、自転車では無理でした。地面に送電ケーブルを敷設中で、道路に深い穴が開いています。

かなりの登り坂でしたが、私たちにとっては下り坂でした。

Hidden in the gentle hills of South Limburg lies the Mariakapel van Kelmond, a small but meaningful chapel that has been a place of peace, faith, and reflection for generations of residents and passersby. Surrounded by green field paths and open countryside, this place exudes a subdued simplicity that perfectly suits its spiritual purpose. The chapel was founded as an expression of popular devotion, a tradition deeply rooted in Limburg. Such Marian chapels often arose out of gratitude and protection or as a place of pilgrimage for those seeking support in difficult times. This chapel, too, grew into a place of tranquility where people light a candle, pray, or simply find inner peace. Architecturally, the chapel is modest yet full of character: a classic brick building with a gable roof, a niche with a statue of the Virgin Mary, and often accompanied by a small bench or floral offering. Inside, a serene silence reigns, broken only by the whisper of the wind or the song of birds outside. The chapel's location makes it particularly special. From here, you look out over rolling fields and orchards, while walking and cycling routes regularly stop here as a resting place. The contrast between the open landscape and the seclusion of the chapel enhances the sense of tranquility. The Mariakapel (Maria Chapel) in Kelmond is not a large monument, but that is precisely what makes it so powerful: a tranquil beacon of silence, a place where landscape and faith intersect and where time seems to stand still. 🌿🕯️

This entire area, from Spaubeek, Genout, Schimmert, to Hulsberg, has a lot of gravel paths. I go there very often and I still discover new trails.
