The Boßler is a prominent mountain in the Swabian Alps near Gruibingen, rising to 794.7 meters above sea level. From its vantage point on the edge of the Alb plateau, a sweeping view opens up across the Alb foothills – on a clear day, this extends far to the west. A large memorial cross also stands here, commemorating several tragic aircraft crashes that have occurred in the region since the 1940s.

The rugged rocks of the Spielburg Castle below the Hohenstaufen summit invite you to climb and explore – or you can simply sit on one of the benches and enjoy the expansive view. A magical place, especially at dusk or early in the morning!

- Interesting rock formation "Spielburg" at the foot of the Hohenstaufen - Located in the "Spielburg" nature reserve (NSG) near Hohenstaufen (a district of Göppingen) in Baden-Württemberg - The "Spielburg" was originally the uppermost limestone layer on the "Hohenstaufen" and slid down to its current location approximately 2.5 million years ago - Mountain bikers and cyclists are prohibited from riding on the rock formation - With a summit cross - Great views of the surrounding area - You should choose the "right" time to explore, as it is close to town and easier to reach, and is very popular on weekends and especially during good weather - The NSG is approximately 31 hectares in size - see https://rp.baden-wuerttemberg.de/fileadmin/RP-Internet/Stuttgart/Abteilung_5/Naturschutzgebiete/_DocumentLibraries/Documents/Naturschutzgebiete/56_s_Faltblatt_NSG_Spielburg.pdf - Dogs must be kept on a leash throughout the entire NSG.
