The Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Mary Gera-Untermhaus/Thieschitz is a growing parish in the Gera church district. It has a half-pastoral position, which is served by Pastor Michael Keßler. The parish comprises around 650 souls in the Gera districts of Untermhaus, Milbitz, Rubitz and Thieschitz.

The Untermhäuser Bridge is a historic pedestrian bridge over the White Elster in Gera. It connects the historical center of the Untermhaus district on the western bank of the river with Küchengartenallee and Orangery and is therefore part of the historical axis from Untermhaus to the city center.
