The Kuhsee has a special history and plays an important role in Augsburg's city life. The lake originally emerged from a gravel mining area and was later designed as a local recreation area for the Augsburg population. Its name derives from its use as a pasture for herds of cows that were brought here to water. Nature and environment: The Kuhsee and its surroundings are not only a recreational area, but also an ecologically valuable area. The shore areas and adjacent forests provide a habitat for a variety of plant and animal species. In addition to water birds such as ducks, swans and herons, rarer species can also be observed, which also makes the lake attractive for nature lovers and bird watchers. Cultural significance and events: The Kuhsee is often the venue for events and activities, including sporting events such as triathlons and running events. Various fitness courses and yoga sessions also take place regularly in the area. Especially in summer, picnics and smaller cultural events are organized by the people of Augsburg. Landscape and design: The Kuhsee is designed so that different zones support different activities - lawns and playgrounds are ideal for families, while the sports facilities and running routes are particularly popular with active people. The surrounding hiking and cycling trails make it a hub for further exploration in the Augsburg area. Interesting facts about water quality: The Kuhsee has been one of the Bavarian bathing lakes with excellent water quality for years. The water quality is checked regularly and since 2011 it has been monitored by the EU Bathing Lakes Report, which continuously certifies that the lake has excellent water quality.

10月 31, 2024, Eiskanal Augsburg – Whitewater Course
The Augsburg Ice Canal is the world's first artificial whitewater course and is located in the Augsburg district of Spickel. It was built for the canoe slalom competitions of the 1972 Summer Olympics and is considered the "mother of all artificial canoe slalom courses". The course is 308 meters long, has a height difference of 4.1 meters and a water speed of 3 to 6 meters per second. With a width of 10 to 12 meters and a depth of 40 to 120 centimeters, the ice canal has a difficulty level of WW IV. Since its opening, the ice canal has regularly hosted national and international competitions, including World Cups, European Championships and World Championships in canoe slalom. In 2019, the ice canal was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the "Augsburg Water Management System". Paddlers have the opportunity to paddle the course. This requires the purchase of a day or annual ticket, which is available online from the city of Augsburg. It is recommended to check the water level in advance, as the main canal (Olympic course) may be closed if the water level is below 50 m³/s. The ice canal is not only an important sports center, but also a popular local recreation area for walkers and spectators who want to experience the dynamic canoeing events live.

9月 23, 2024, View of Mandichosee
The Mandichosee, a large dam on the Lech, is wonderful for swimming, paddling and surfing. It is easily accessible by bike and ideal for pedestrians. There is a lovely path to walk around, but it is around 12 km long. Not necessarily suitable for cyclists, partly a dirt path to the right of the Lech. There are parking spaces and a kiosk with lovely places to sit by the water.
