Avoid after heavy rain unless you have a small boat with you!

A delightful Welsh bothy that feels more like a cottage than most free shelters, with a living room with woodburner downstairs, cosy bedrooms upstairs and an outdoor loo.

Standard Welsh forestry gravel. A decent climb up from the bothy to the arch and out towards the Cwmyswyth valley.

Tried to cross in one go but wheel got caught so, yep, wet feet. Good place to top up- your bottles though.

An Elenydd Wilderness Hostel. A simple and friendly hostel, hidden away in it's own secluded valley. Hot showers, loads of bunk beds and self catering kitchen. A really lovely place to stay.

Beautiful valley roads and relatively gentle gradients to this beauty spot. Can be windy and exposed, but otherwise a lovely place to stop.

Strata Florida (Latin for ‘Vale of Flowers’) – is a ruined medieval monastery where generations of Welsh princes are buried. The abbey was founded in 1164 by white-robed Cistercian monks and it soon became the most famous church in Wales, after St Davids. Small coffee shop on-site, opening hours vary!

This rubble stone Gothic arch was built over the old turnpike road, to celebrate the golden jubilee of King George III in 1810. The road was then the main road from Aberystwyth to London and it ran through the arch until only a couple of years ago.

Undulating and obviously can be windy. Steep climb up to 12% before the descent back to the start.
