At Stachelberg, between Hennef and Eitdorf, the Sieg River meanders in sweeping loops through lush floodplains. A well-maintained path leads directly along the Sieg, sometimes close to the bank, sometimes high on the steep bank clinging to the rocks. Everywhere you have wonderful views of the tranquil landscape, allowing you to breathe deeply and let your mind wander.

An idyllic park on the banks of the Sieg River in the former artists' village of Herchen. Restaurants, a riverside beach, mini-golf, boat rentals, and a large playground make the spa park a popular destination. The green space, with its well-maintained picnic area and mature trees, still exudes a special atmosphere. In the 19th century, Herchen was considered the most beautiful health resort in the Sieg district. Spacious villas surrounding the park testify to the town's former importance as a summer residence for wealthy guests and artists from the Rhineland. The spa park is a popular starting and ending point for hikes and bike tours in the Sieg nature reserve. Besides a beer garden with river views, boat rentals, and mini-golf, it offers a large playground with a climbing crocodile. Lounge chairs and hammocks invite visitors to relax, and picnic tables provide a place to enjoy food and drinks. The expansive grounds offer many quiet spots to linger, and several shallow areas along the banks provide easy access to the water.
