A beautiful hiking area for both short and long hikes. Every season has its charm. It's especially lovely in spring when the trees turn a delicate green, the ponies give birth to their foals, and the cattle to their calves. But the area is also a feast for the eyes during the heather bloom in late summer. This year, even a winter hike through the deep snow was a wonderful experience.

Hi, We had a great hike today in the Duhner Heide nature reserve in Cuxhaven. We explored the Duhner Heide, which is a protected area, and it was wonderful – well worth a visit, even in February 💝. A beautiful viewing platform offers a fantastic view of the sea and the island of Neuwerk. There's also a telescope at the top, but you'll need a coin to use it. At the bottom of the viewing platform is one of the stamp boxes for the North Sea Travel Passport.

Off to the Heck cattle, Koniks and bison.

Used as shelter during a rain shower. From the top, there's a wonderful view.

It is also nice to drive in front of the dike, but please be careful of pedestrians
