You can take a relaxing break at the Birkighütte. It's open on Sundays from May to November, serving fresh filter coffee, homemade cakes and pastries, and pork or venison sausages from the grill. Enjoy the view of the surrounding countryside from the beer garden, while children can play on the small playground or take a ride on the miniature train through the animal enclosure.

The Steinbauer-Seebers Hut (often simply called the Seeber Hut or something similar) is located on the Kleiner Gleichberg near Römhild in Thuringia. The hut is named after Steinbauer Seeber, a figure associated with the forestry and hiking development of the Gleichberge area. The hut is situated at an altitude of approximately 530 meters on the ascent to the Kleiner Gleichberg. The area around the Kleiner Gleichberg is known for the Steinsburg Museum (Celtic culture) and as a hiking area (near the Waldhaus). It is a typical shelter in the Gleichberge forest, serving as a rest stop.

A lovely spot to take a break. What's no longer so lovely is that the former meadow path to the hut has been completely obliterated with frost protection material, so now cars can easily drive right up to it. In my opinion, this is yet another example of blind destruction of nature, because a few people simply don't want to or can't walk 50 meters. It devalues this wonderful natural spot...

Every Sunday from 2 pm with coffee, cake, and grilled food. Here's a reminder: Leave Oberstreu towards Frickenhausen. Stay on Frickenhäuserstrasse for 1 km. Turn right onto Alte Panzerstrasse. After 1.4 km, on the left-hand side... You can buy red deer and lamb from our own farm. All unnecessary parts are trimmed from the meat, or it is removed from the bones and vacuum-packed. The hut can also be rented for larger events. Some animals can be observed here.

The free car park is at the end of Basaltwerkstrasse. It is best to park on the left side of the road. We parked on the right and stood in the full summer heat in the afternoon. The small Liegelberg shelter is a great place to stop. There you will find brochures about the Gleichberg area as well as helpful hiking trail signs. We found this place to be very lovingly laid out and detailed. It is a pleasure to look at this place.
