The Leine River has shaped the landscape and history of the region for centuries. It rises in the Eichsfeld region south of Göttingen and flows approximately 280 kilometers northwards until it empties into the Aller River near Schwarmstedt. Along its course, it traverses fertile floodplains, rolling hills, and several important cities – most notably Göttingen and Hanover, where it meanders peacefully through parks and green spaces.

Attention: The Süntelbuchenallee is closed due to work on the State Garden Show until April 26th!

Very diverse birdlife to the right and left of the path, the viewing platforms are worth climbing.

The Lohnder Leine Bridge, officially known as the Roßmann Bridge until the 1980s, in the Lohnde district of the town of Seelze is a bridge over the Leine that is protected as an architectural monument. Instead of a new ferry, the municipality of Lohnde had a bridge built between 1912 and 1914. Shortly before its completion, the bridge collapsed and had to be built a second time at the construction company's expense. In 1914, the bridge was named "Roßmann Bridge" after Reinhard Roßmann, the district administrator of the Linden district who served until 1920. The bridge is of engineering interest as a reinforced concrete three-hinged arch bridge. It is the last of its type in Germany and is protected as a technical monument. The problem is that Bad Nenndorf has closed off the park and the Süntelbuchen because the Federal Garden Show will take place in Bad Nenndorf in 2026.
