Beautiful forest path through the Alb valley

This is an ideal hiking trail between Ettlingen and Herrenalb. The Alb River accompanies you on your left. Pure scenic enjoyment. Due to its proximity to the Alb Valley Railway line, shorter sections of the trail are also easily accessible. For refreshments, the Kochmühle in Neurod and the König von Preußen restaurant in Frauenalb are recommended. Both also offer access to the Alb Valley Railway.

🚶 The Graf-Rhena-Weg (Count Rhena Trail) This classic hiking trail stretches for approximately 19 km between Ettlingen and Bad Herrenalb. It is named after Friedrich Maximilian Alexander Count von Rhena, a Baden diplomat and patron of the Black Forest Association.

🌲 The Graf-Rhena-Weg (also known as the Albtalweg) and the associated border house are two of the most charming highlights for hikers and cyclists in the Alb Valley. They combine the enjoyment of nature with the fascinating border history between Baden and Württemberg.

A beautiful Murg Bridge, but unfortunately, it ends at the B462 (Hilpertsau) on a very narrow sidewalk with a "bicycles allowed" sign. Strictly speaking, walking speed is the rule, and pedestrians who have to yield to them will stare at you in panic from afar because there's absolutely no room to pass. If you're legally riding on the road, it's practically impossible to reach the bridge due to the lack of lowered curbs. At off-peak times—or generally in the direction of Kaltenbronn—I prefer to cycle briefly on the main road and, with a heavy heart, leave the bridge.
