The Lords of Bothmer originally owned a watermill on the right bank of the Leine. Because it obstructed shipping on the Leine, it was demolished in 1822 on the condition that a Dutch windmill be built on the same site. This mill was intended to have two grinding mills, one for barley and one for oil. The mill burned down in 1930 and was rebuilt in 1932. It was severely damaged during World War II. It was restored in the 1980s and 1990s. Tours are possible on Mill Days and by appointment. https://www.erlebniswelt-lueneburger-heide.de/detail/id=5ff84d7fb4dc7458417f9a9f

The Rittergut Frankenfeld campsite is located directly on the banks of the Aller. With its old trees, the wide view of the Aller and the park-like landscape of the Aller glacial valley, it is one of the most beautiful places in the region. https://www.lueneburger-heide.de/service/unterkunft/14261/campingplatz-rittergut-frankenfeld.html

Hohnstedt (also Honstedt, Honstede, Hostede or similar) is the name of an extinct noble family from Lower Saxony. The family is to be distinguished from the unrelated Mansfeld noble family Hohnstedt, which has a different coat of arms. Due to the similar coat of arms, there is a coat of arms relationship to the Hardenberg family, who also come from Lower Saxony. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hohnstedt_(l%C3%BCneburgisches_Adelsgeschlecht)

The church, whose foundation stone was laid around the year 1200, was first mentioned in a document in 1269. It was extended in the 14th century and also received a vault. The current Gothic hall church made of plastered rubble stone dates from the 15th century. It has a rectangular, recessed choir in the east, to which the sacristy is attached to the south. The wooden bell tower in the west is dated to 1383 according to dendrochronological research. The church bell from 1507 had to be recast in 1855 because it cracked. The nave is covered with a gable roof, as is the choir. There is an extension to the north of the nave that houses the vestibule. The interior of the nave is covered with two bustled groin vaults, the choir with one. The galleries were built in the 16th century, the pew in the choir was built later. The church also contains a Gothic baptismal font and a Baroque baptismal angel. The altarpiece was made in 1603 and the pulpit, on whose parapet the four evangelists are depicted, was originally made for the church in Kerstlingerode in 1586. The predella shows a relief depiction of the Last Supper. The altarpiece was added in the 19th century. The altar cross and the mensa are from the 20th century. The first organ was built in 1880 by Henrich Vieth. It was replaced in 2009 by a work by Feopentow Orgelbau with eleven registers, a manual and a pedal. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Georg_(Meinerdingen)
