The path is well-maintained, but on warm days it can be quite crowded with walkers, dogs, and cyclists. Unfortunately, a section of it had to be closed due to imminent demolition (April 2025). This affects the area around the red brick shark, which stands at the top of the cliff. Pedestrians can walk along the water's edge from Niendorf to Travemünde. Cyclists are best advised to ride to the barrier and then follow the "U" diversion signs; then you can at least continue part of the original route.
