5月 23, 2025, St. George's Church Warsow

The Warsow Church is a Gothic building and the oldest church in the Stralendorf district, probably built in the 12th or 13th century. The interior is brick-walled. The ceiling was originally vaulted. Its choir is constructed from an octagon, and its tower is extended into the single-nave space in such a way that it appears to grow out of the roof. Its retaining walls stand at the bottom of the church and divide the front part of the nave into three parts. The tower supports an octagonal pyramid covered with slate. In 1863, the windows were enlarged, thus depriving them of their original form. In 1891/1892, the church was expanded and its interior renovated. In the 1970s, work on the roof and interior became necessary, resulting in the loss of some of the wood paneling. A baptismal font, pulpit, and pews from 1892 have been preserved, as has the old carved altar screen on the north side. During the renovations from 1974 to 1976, a simple altar table was installed.

The current church was built between 1875 and 1879 in the center of the old town on the foundations of a previous building. Between 1974 and 1977, it was extensively remodeled with funding from one of the GDR's church building programs, at a cost of 480,000 Deutschmarks. It is a cruciform church (architecture) according to the building standards of the Eisenach regulations.

In recent years, the horse festival has attracted not only families and horse lovers to Redefin. It has also been a meeting place for breeders and guests from neighboring European countries. The CSI tournament has brought a great deal of glamour and prestige to the state-owned horse center with its historic backdrop. That will most likely be absent this year. The village of Kirch-Jesar is more than 700 years old; the name Jesar is likely derived from Slavic and means "lake." As early as the 14th century, a chapel stood in Kirch-Jesar, which presumably fell into disrepair after the Thirty Years' War. In 1717, the Duke of Mecklenburg's court marshal, Johann Christoph von Halberstadt, had the new church built in a simple style. The wood-clad tower with its slate roof was not added until 1847, as was the interior. A few years later, a bell from a workshop in Wismar was added. In 1881, the church received an organ by master organ builder Johann Heinrich Runge. The gallery had to be specially lowered to accommodate the instrument. Around 1913, the painter Willi Schomann, originally from Parchim, created the mural "The Last Judgment" on the choir wall. The church is Protestant and belongs to the Kirch-Jesar parish.

This ruined bridge is located on Lindenstrasse south of the A24 north of the city of Hagenow between the Viez district and the Gammelin district of Bakendorf. It dates from the 1930s and was intended to lead the connecting road over the originally planned course of the Hamburg-Berlin Reichsautobahn. The A 24 motorway, completed in 1982, runs in a northern arc around the former route planning, which can still be seen on aerial photographs. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagenow

The church was built in 1717 as a simple rectangular building with a half-timbered frame made of oak and clinker brick panels on behalf of the Mecklenburg court marshal Johann Christoph von Halberstadt. The tower in front was built in 1847, the pulpit altar and the wall stand in the figure Wilder Mann also date from this time. A painting on the east wall from 1913 shows the Last Judgment, the Runge organ was built in 1881. The writer and freedom fighter Theodor Körner probably wrote his last letter from Kirch Jesar. https://www.stiftung-kiba.de/kirchen/dorfkirche-kirch-jesar

The village is mentioned for the first time around 1345, the church will have been standing around this time. The field stone construction with buttresses made of brick probably dates from the end of the 13th century. The four yokes and the polygonal east end have a different construction quality. While the three western yokes are of poor quality, the choir is much cleaner. This can point to an earlier period of the choir, but also to a later renovation or refurbishment, in which the two-lane neo-Gothic windows and the priest's gate were also installed on the south side of the choir. The buttresses also show different masonry. On the western gable of the roof sits a half-timbered tower with a shingled, eight-sided pointed helmet, which probably came to the church in the 18th century. However, the two bells in the tower are very old, they are dated 1399 and 1474. In the course of the neo-Gothic redesign, the church received a western entrance porch with a beautiful gable. The chimneys of the church heating are also striking. The interior is covered with a flat wooden ceiling. During the remodeling in the 1970s, the neo-Gothic altarpiece was moved to the north wall and a simple altar table was set up in the choir. The pulpit and pews as well as the font from 1892 are still preserved. The organ was built in 1833 by Friedrich Friese (Friese I). It did not come from Wustrow to the church in Warsow until 1874. It was built here by Johann Heinrich Runge (1811-1885). After a restoration in 1999 by the Schmidt company from Rostock, it sounds again today in full sound. The cemetery is surrounded by a dry stone wall. The large cemetery is located at the end of the town (Schweriner Str. 37), strong linden trees line the paths here. https://www.dorfkirchen-in-mv.de/content/Version_1/detail_gesamt.php?Reg_Nr=1350

The local center is the neo-Gothic town church built between 1875 and 1879, which had both a Romanesque and a Gothic predecessor. Remnants of the latter are still preserved in the lower part of the tower, recognizable by the monastery format of the bricks and the fieldstone masonry. There is a photovoltaic system on the roof of the town church. Anyone entering the church for the first time will be surprised to find so little of the neo-Gothic design inside. The town of Hagenow with Hagenow-Heide and the villages of Granzin, Scharbow, Viez, Zapel, Sudenhof, Toddin, Gramnitz, Pätow and Steegen form the catchment area for the Hagenow Evangelical Church Community. The modification: In the 1970s, fungus infestation made it necessary to rebuild, which was also carried out from a practical point of view. The actual church room was much smaller, but with the possibility of expanding it by opening glass doors. Community rooms, offices and staff apartments were installed so that the church is not only filled with life for the Sunday service at 10 a.m., but throughout. Treasures: The oldest piece of equipment is a Romanesque baptismal font that was found in the foundation during the renovation work and was probably in use until the demolition of the old church. Above the baptismal font hangs the twenty-armed brass candlestick, which was donated in 1742 by the glassworks owner Grundlach from Toddin. Since 1994 there has been a Nußbücker organ with 23 registers in the church. The church tower clock with its mechanical movement from 1879 is also worth mentioning. Concerts and exhibitions take place regularly. Source: www.hagenow.m-vp.de/stadtkirche-hagenow
