The Pfaffenteich in Schwerin is a centrally located body of water in the heart of the city and is one of its most famous landmarks. It was artificially created in the Middle Ages and originally served as a millpond. Today, the approximately twelve-hectare Pfaffenteich is a popular spot for walks and relaxation. Surrounded by historic buildings, it offers a picturesque view of Schwerin's skyline with the imposing cathedral in the background. The lakeside promenade is particularly charming, with cafés and benches inviting visitors to linger. In summer, small boats cruise the pond, and events and festivals are regularly held here – a lively meeting place for locals and visitors alike.

Events are regularly held at the Pfaffenteich, such as dragon boat races, cycling races, art installations and various festivals. The fairytale Schweriner Schloss was built and renovated in the period of the second half of the 14th century and the 16th century. The residents of the castle were the Dukes and Grand Dukes of Mecklenburg and Mecklenburg-Schwerin

From the park side you have probably the most beautiful view of the castle.
