B-road with good asphalt and heavy traffic. A well-maintained paved pedestrian/cycle path is located next to the road.

Even if you don't see much from here, you now know where the castle is and where to go to see more. Driving through the side streets works great. Coating flawless.

Very nice castle with a castle museum and a recommendable restaurant. Ideal for a longer break. You can also sit on a terrace with a view of a park or in the castle courtyard

The spaciously designed palace square is dominated by the basin's cascades, created between 1780 and 1785 by the Bohemian sculptor Rudolf Kaplunger. These sandstone cascades replaced the original wooden cascade. The figurative decorations represent the river gods of the Rögnitz and the Stör. The Ludwigslust Canal was built between 1756 and 1760 as a 26 km long connecting axis, connecting these two rivers and enabling the Baroque water features. In 2008, the cascade underwent its first comprehensive renovation, and now not only the cascade but also the figures literally shine in new splendor. The water features are not only worth seeing in summer; on cold winter days, the watercourses become icy works of art. The Palace Square is also adorned with several beautiful half-timbered buildings, the monument to Frederick Francis I, and the "Old Guardhouse," built as a guardhouse and detention center. From here, you can enjoy one of the city's most beautiful views: from the palace to the Cascades and further to the City Church. Situated in a straight line between the palace and the City Church is the newly designed memorial to the victims of the Wöbbelin concentration camp, with the cube designed by Herbert Bartholomäus as the central object of the memorial. https://www.ludwigslust.de/kultur-und-tourismus/sehenswertes-00001-00001/schlossplatz-und-kaskaden/

The castle has had various uses during its almost 800-year history. Until the 18th century it served as the residence and administrative center of the Mecklenburg dukes. During the 30 Years War, Wallenstein stayed in the castle for 3 days. The ironworks located in the city allowed him to produce iron military equipment. With the completion of the nearby castle in 1717, the castle lost its character as a ruler's seat. The Duke's former living quarters became a stables and remained as part of the Redefin State Stud until 1954. The former farm building also had various uses, including serving as an orangery, living room, school, technical college and youth hostel. After extensive renovation of the entire castle complex, which was completed in 2006, the castle now houses the museum, a wedding room, the city information center and the restaurant. Guided tours and events accompany the year. No other medieval castle in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is as well preserved. http://www.burg-neustadt-glewe.de/museum-historie.html
