First built (1717–1830). The castle was demolished in 1960. Reconstruction from 2005 to 2007 by the Hamburg-based major investor ECE Projektmanagement. Ostensibly a castle, but inside a department store.

The mall apparently financed the reconstruction of the castle. It is worth climbing or driving to the roof terrace (2€). You are then directly under the Quadriga and have a beautiful view over the city and in the distance, e.g. to the Brocken

Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand served as a field marshal in Prussian service. During the War of the First Coalition, he held supreme command of the Allied army from 1792 to 1794.
