Water lilies only grow at certain water depths (1-2 m) because their leaves and flowers have to reach the water surface. The thick rhizomes are rooted in the mud of quiet bays. In winter, the leaves often sprout and remain underwater for a long time in waiting mode.

The Specker See is located in the municipality of Kargow, southeast of Waren, in the west of the Müritz National Park in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district in southeast Mecklenburg. Only a 1,700-meter-wide land bridge separates the lake from the Müritz to the west. It is approximately 2,800 meters long and 1,300 meters wide.

Where the sea eagle circles in an endless sky, the osprey dives into the lake from dizzying heights and the trumpeting of cranes accompanies the spring and autumn of each year, is a landscape that reminds us of fairy tales and stories of days gone by. Although the direct shore areas of the lakes are often hidden by trees and bushes, there are always breathtaking views of the water landscapes. A detour by canoe is a good way to explore the lake landscape from the water. Paddling through the calm waters, surrounded by untouched nature, is a highlight that should not be missed. The Müritz National Park is not only a place for relaxation and enjoyment of nature, but also a paradise for active holidaymakers.
