First built (1717–1830). The castle was demolished in 1960. Reconstruction from 2005 to 2007 by the Hamburg-based major investor ECE Projektmanagement. Ostensibly a castle, but inside a department store.

A very beautiful building that is intended to be reminiscent of the castle 🏰 from times gone by. Inside there is a shopping center “Die Schloss-Arkaden” where you can shop!

The two equestrian statues stood on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße for many years and were moved back to their original location by crane after construction was completed.

After years of controversial discussions, the building was rebuilt on the old site as a new building. "In 2006, 46 years after the demolition, the main facade including the castle volume was rebuilt with more than 600 original parts based on old plans and historical photos in its original size and on the historic site, largely true to the original. In the neighboring “Schloss-Arkaden” shopping center, around 150 shops and restaurants were built.
