Remains of a Roman aqueduct near Kastamonitsa

A beautiful gravel road runs along the dam. Coming from the village of Avdou, you can drive to the dam. After the first gate, you have to turn right into the olive groves, otherwise you will find yourself in front of locked gates. It's best to just plan in Komoot and I can't say for sure whether the road will be passable BEFORE October. You'd better find out more here.

The view is worth every HM.

It's rather depressing here. The surroundings are really beautiful with paths through the olive groves, but the reservoir really has nothing attractive about it, and the abandoned ruins are probably not even suitable as a lost place. It's better to head for other destinations in the area.

For me this is the most beautiful part of the tour, right through the olive groves and the mountain villages. Far away from tourism and always with a great view that leaves you wanting more.

A small path goes uphill past the windmills through a goat pasture, past a small chapel, to Mount Karfi.
