The parish church of St. Sebastian in Freinhausen dates back to a Gothic building from the 15th century. The tower, choir and parts of the church hall date from this period and make the building one of the oldest surviving churches in the region. Opposite, on the other side of the street, is the Schlossbauernkapelle, a wayside chapel from the end of the 18th century with a figure of the Holy Mother of God.

After both the original monastery church of the former Benedictine monastery and the subsequent building were destroyed by fire, the church of St. George was rebuilt in the neo-baroque style from 1899 to 1903. The formerly free-standing northwest tower from the 13th century was integrated as the west tower.
