A beautiful cycle path, very varied.

A bit narrow in places, but the surface is good. There are often beautiful views over the river.

The church in Ermershausen was dedicated to Saint Peter. Simon, nicknamed Peter (Rock), was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee when he, along with his brother Andrew, was called by Jesus Christ to be a "fisher of men." According to Catholic understanding, he is the highest apostle, and the two-millennia-long line of popes—currently Leo XIV—follows his succession. In statues and paintings, Peter is almost always depicted holding two keys. This attribute refers to the biblical passage in Matthew: "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Chapter 16, Verse 19). Peter, along with Paul, is also known as the "Prince of the Apostles"; their common feast day in the calendar of saints is June 29th.

Freight traffic was discontinued on September 24, 1994, and passenger train service on July 31, 1995. Following approval by the Federal Railway Authority on September 19, 1995,[3] the line was closed on December 1, 1995. On August 1, 1852, the railway reached Haßfurt with the Ludwigs-West-Bahn (Ludwigs-West Railway). It wasn't until forty years later, on March 15, 1892, that the Royal Bavarian State Railways opened the secondary line to Hofheim.[2] The basis for this was a treaty between the Kingdom of Bavaria and the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, which ensured co-financing by the Saxon enclave of Königsberg and a corresponding route. The Haßfurt–Hofheim railway line was a single-track, 15.49-kilometer-long branch line from Haßfurt to Hofheim in Lower Franconia. It was also known locally as the "Hofheimerle" (Hofheimerle). Although three gatehouses narrow the access roads, they are not towering, defensive towers. The Bad- or Lendershäuser Tor, the Weth- or Großmannsdorfer Tor, and the Obertor were probably no longer intended for defensive purposes when they were built in the second decade of the 18th century, but rather as customs and inspection posts.
