The Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path is another highlight of the railway cycle paths in the Hunsrück. The 48-kilometer route from Trier / Ruwer to Hermeskeil is one of the most beautiful bike paths on railway lines in Germany.

The Ruwer-Hochwald cycle path uses the route of the former Ruwer railway for over 90% of its route and, alongside the Maare-Mosel and Schinderhannes cycle paths, is one of the most distinctive railway cycle paths in Rhineland-Palatinate.
