For most visitors to our island, their vacation begins right here - because the Fehmarnsund Bridge not only connects the sunny island with the mainland, it is the landmark of Fehmarn and is affectionately known as the coat hanger. It is also part of the so-called bird flight line, named after the parallel flight route of migratory birds between Central Europe and Scandinavia, the direct traffic route between the greater Copenhagen and Hamburg areas that has been developed since the 1960s.
