There is a shelter at the Hirtenfels. From there you have a great view of the surroundings and the Palatinate Forest. Right next to it is the Kosakenfels.

The Hirtenfels with its 630m above sea level is well integrated into a beautiful hiking tour from Dannenfels over the Adlerbogen and Ludwigsturm. From the summit of the Hirtenfels you have a wonderful view of the Palatinate.

Gigantic view. And I don't find the many wind turbines disturbing either. At least nicer than KKW's.

It was incredibly beautiful and even more beautiful that hardly anyone was there today. The absolute highlight of Dannenfels.

The Eagle Arch is a steel triumphal arch on the Moltkefelsen, 545 meters above sea level, on the east flank of the Donnersberg. On a forest path southwest of Dannenfels, a 12.50 meter long steel arch was stretched about 30 meters above the valley floor between two rocky peaks of the Moltkefelsen. The eagle arch is an important testimony to the art-historical development of the monument in the German Empire and the early tourist development of the Donnersberg. The arch is a "product of technology, an iron construction originally intended for bridge building, alienated to a "monument"... "in the dimension of the aesthetic" (Schindlmayr 1982, p. 159). Basically you should wear sturdy shoes. The path is not suitable for prams or people with walking disabilities. The view from the viewing platform, however, compensates for any effort of the ascent. Certainly also a highlight for enjoying sunsets - if necessary, pack a delicious drop of Nahe wine in your backpack ;)
