The tour as recommended by Komoot contains short, very beautiful stretches of land, but you essentially drive past a lot of highlights. Anyone who takes the tour should definitely do some research beforehand, unless they love country roads. It was the first time I took on a tour without seeing it, but it was definitely the last time.

The Havel Cycle Path is one of those paths that can't be measured in stages, but in moments. It rolls like a poem across the landscape, occasionally halting at the road, then flowing like the water next door. Those who follow it are rewarded not only with kilometers, but also with moods: the hesitant shimmer over the meadows near Phöben, the shallow shimmer of the Havel near Deetz, the inviting emptiness between sky and reeds. The route is well-maintained, a ribbon of asphalt that winds through the wide floodplains like a leisurely thought. But as so often in life, the appeal lies not in the smoothness. The Havel Cycle Path, I realized, is not a line. It is a fabric of river, field, and air that only unfolds when you approach it with leisure. And with the willingness to take the occasional detour.

The Havel cycle path is ideal. You can pesen because it is slippery and mostly goes straight. You can also let yourself drift and see: Havel with boats and ships and waterfowl, herds of cattle or goats, riders, alluvial forests and much more. Or stop completely at one of the many rest areas with tables and benches. If you lose your strength, you can turn off to Gross Kreutz or Götz and take the train home.
