The Amalienruhe, an idyllic vantage point on the Schluchsee shore, enchants with a beautiful lake panorama. A romantic "Bellevue Pavilion" was built on this characteristic rocky outcrop when tourism at Schluchsee was still in its infancy. The Amalienruhe is located directly on the circular lake trail and rewards all hikers and walkers with an impressive all-round view of a wonderfully harmonious Black Forest landscape. The complete premium hiking trail 'Jägersteig' is a little over 11km long. It goes up about 230m and of course back down again. In theory, you can walk the trail in both directions and it is signposted in both directions. If you start from Schluchsee, however, it is advisable to take the counter-clockwise direction. This has the advantage that you first go up and down the climb on the first half and have the 'strenuous' part behind you. The second half is then only the way back along the banks of the Schluchsee, where there are no significant meters of altitude to be overcome.
