Since 1803, Clervaux has been the seat of a parish and deanery. Previously, the town belonged ecclesiastically to Munshausen. The first parish church was located on what is now the market square on Groβgasse. From 1910 to 1912, it was replaced by the current church, built in the Neo-Romanesque style according to plans by Johannes Franziskus Klomp. The same architect also designed the buildings of the Benedictine abbey. The building is constructed of slate, blending harmoniously into the Oeslingen landscape. The veneration of the two martyrs Cosmas and Damian likely dates back to the influence of the Diocese of Liège, to which Clervaux belonged until the French Revolution. Around 1700, Count Albert de Lannoy received relics of these saints from Rome. They are still kept in the church today. The mosaics on the tympanum above the main portal refer to the patronage of these saints over the church.

The tourist town of Clervaux is characterized by the dominant alignment of the old castle (12th century), the new church (1912) and the abbey Saint Mauritius (1909) along the sharp ridge above the convex meander bank of the Clerve.

The parish church was built in 1910-1911 in Rhenish-Romanesque style and rises on the high rock. The monument owes its existence to the President of the Association of the Eifel and Ardennes, Georg Wagner, who suggested its construction as a member of parliament and President of the Chamber in Luxembourg. The memorial consists of four stones bearing the names of the »pioneers for a united Europe« (Konrad Adenauer, Joseph Bech, Paul-Henri Spaak and Robert Schuman). The memorial stones come from the respective countries of origin of the named founding fathers. Gneiss boulder from the Lüneburg Heath for Adenauer, a sandstone block from the Müllerthal-Waldbillig for Bech, blue slate from the High Fens for Spaak and a slate block from the Vosges for Schuman. The fifth stone represents the Treaties of Rome and the signatories from the six countries involved. Near the European Monument and directly at the actual three-country point, a pedestrian bridge connecting Germany and Belgium leads over the Our, which was named after Georg Wagner.
