The park in the town center offers beautiful natural surroundings and inviting park benches for relaxation. The paths are accessible and easy to walk. Accessible from Stade or Zeven, the parking lot is located at the monastery park and museum, as well as opposite the shopping center. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 3 pm to 6 pm (3 pm to 5 pm from October to March). On Sundays and public holidays, it is also open from 10 am to 12 pm. In the 1980s, archaeologists unearthed the foundations of the former Benedictine monastery, which was one of the intellectual centers of power in Northern Germany from 1102 to 1647. During the Middle Ages and the early modern period, there were only a few monasteries directly subordinate to the Pope. Harsefeld Monastery was one of them. However, a large part of the monastery complex fell into disrepair in the post-monastic period.

The bridge in the Auental valley is a beautiful sight. Information signs there provide details about the birdlife in the valley. With a bit of luck, you might even spot deer in the thicket. The surrounding area is beautifully wild and overgrown. Wild orchids in bloom create a vibrant and colorful scene 😊. Even raspberry bushes grow along the path. A hike here is highly recommended and absolutely stunning ☀️.

The Garden of Stones in Harsefeld offers a journey through Earth's history. Surrounded by stunning natural scenery, the natural stones, such as the large glacial erratics from Scandinavia, tell the story of the formation of the North German landscape. Each individual stone represents a piece of regional and geological history. This is vividly presented in a spacious, beautiful, and natural setting. Information panels provide explanations of the geological background. The theme park combines experiencing nature and education in a very special way. Families, school classes, and groups interested in nature will find particularly exciting insights into Earth's history here, which can be experienced with all the senses.
