The fortified church with its thick walls and pointed towers is really impressive. The reason for the establishment in the 15th century were previous raids by the Nuremberg troops. Effeltrich has the best preserved fortified church in Upper Franconia. In the immediate vicinity of the church is the mighty dancing linden tree with its sweeping canopy of leaves. Definitely worth seeing!

Today's renaissance building is the successor to an older system that dates back to the Middle Ages. The humpback cubes in the section of the tower that stands on even older masonry point to the 11th to 13th centuries.
