5月 10, 2024, Fischerhude Künstlerdorf
Fischerhude, sights and walks Old houses, lots of greenery and a small river invite you to take a leisurely stroll through Fischerhude. You'll see a lot on this day trip. Culture, art and nature. There are also a few restaurants to fortify yourself. Fischerhude is known for its galleries and the artists who work or have worked here. Along with Worpswede, not far away, it is a really worth seeing artists' village in Lower Saxony. One of the most important artists is certainly Otto Modersohn. His paintings are exhibited in the museum of the same name. But it's not just the art that's worth seeing, the whole place is.

Fischerhude on the Wümme, known as an artists' village since the beginning of the 20th century, impresses with its historic buildings in romantic alleys. It is a place that invites you to linger. Gastronomic offerings support this with tasty treats. With around 3,400 inhabitants, Fischerhude is a relatively small place, but it is worth a stay just for the museum of the impressionist and co-founder of Worpswede, Otto Modersohn. But the Wümme that flows here, the local museum, the Liebfrauenkirche and the Mühlenberg with its windmill are also worth a visit. First mentioned in documents in 1124, Fischerhude, located on the Hamburg-Bremen long-distance cycle route, belongs to the town of Ottersberg.

now the dunes don't move anymore. But they offer an impressive landscape and great photo opportunities

Fischerhude, a place where you feel at home: an artist village, small shops with art objects, quaint cafes with outdoor seating in beautiful surroundings (warm season), dreamy paths and streets, lovely gardens and houses. You should see Fischerhude.

Nice lake, but more than "looking" is not allowed as it is privately owned.

Very beautiful lake with a small resting place. Swimming / fishing is not allowed, however, as the lake is privately owned.

Nice, small place, not quite as crowded as Worpswede.

The Vossberge are a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Sottrum. It is a former shifting dune area, the very fine sands of which are only slightly in motion. To reduce the movement of the sands, pines and beach grass were previously planted in some areas. After the traditional sheep grazing was abandoned after the Second World War, the dune area was populated by trees, so that today there are only a few open dune areas.

Good picnic spot. It is very beautiful here. Unfortunately it is a private lake.

The so-called hiking dunes correspond to the highlights "Vossberge" and "Everinghauser Wanderdünen". In fact, it is the Vossberge, Ice Age quartz sand elevations (vulgo: E. Hauser Wanderdünen), which no longer hike because they are overgrown today and which extend to the ferry station. In between there is something missing in the dune because sand was removed there in the past and the dune was transformed into forest and fields.

The highlights described at Komoot "Vossberge" and "Everinghauser Wanderdünen" are identical. It is the Vossberge, Ice Age quartz sand elevations (vulgo: E. Hauser Wanderdünen), which no longer hike because they are overgrown today and which extend to the ferry station. In between there is something missing in the dune because sand was removed there in the past and the dune was transformed into forest and fields. But the landscape is impressive, as it borders on the Wümme lowlands at Hellwege to the south.

We started at the ferry station and followed the path along the Wümmwiesen at the edge of the forest. Sea of Gagelstrauch lay to our right in the bog and from the NSG ferry station we finally came to the NSG Vossberge. Wonderful solitude and pure nature!

If you are in the area you can and should take 3 to 4 hours to explore the place. Very beautiful here.

The south arm is not shown in the photos. The southern arm is by far the most water-rich and fully channeled arm of the Wümme and flows south past Fischerhude.
